Business Analytics Program Hosts Etiquette Series for International Students

Last week, first-year international students in the Business Analytics program participated in the first Business Etiquette Session of the year. The sessions are designed to prepare international students to successfully transition into the U.S. workforce upon graduation and to provide students with the tools necessary to be competitive in the workforce.

This session, instructed by Bob Rahm, Sales Trainer at OEC, focused on cross-cultural communication styles and business etiquette best practices in the U.S. The session began with elevator speech practice, where students rehearsed one-by-one and were provided feedback on their speech.

An engaging presentation followed, where the group discussed cultural similarities and differences. The conversation included questions like “what have you observed about the way Americans communicate” and “what have you observed about the way Americans conduct themselves in business.” The session ended with an open floor, allowing students to ask anything about American culture, workplace professionalism and more. Another Business Etiquette Session for international students will be scheduled for the spring semester.
