Manoj Malhotra and Chris Laszlo attended the Global Business School Network (GBSN) and Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI) conferences held concurrently in Lisbon November 6 – 9. In addition, Dean Malhotra participated in the Dean’s Cohort held in Porto November 3 – 6. The overarching theme of all three events was “Navigating Uncertainty and Complexity,” addressing the challenges of managing competing internal and external priorities to meet the transformational change required to educate students in ways that balance rigor in technical skills with responsibility to society.
Some of the questions addressed by participants from business schools around the world included:
- How are business schools changing their positioning and services against the evolving role of business in society?
- Which impact measurement methodologies are being used by schools and businesses and what are their advantages and shortcomings?
- How should the current ranking systems change to more adequately capture the broader role of business schools in the economy and society?
- What does Globally Responsible Leadership mean today?
Weatherhead’s participation at these events demonstrates its continuing dedication to “developing transformational ideas and outstanding leaders for the advancement of business and society” and to supporting the Fowler Center’s mission of advancing business as an agent of world benefit.
