Each year, the Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management Banking and Finance Department holds an award ceremony to recognize its outstanding students in the categories of leadership and academic excellence. This year, Master of Finance Graduate Students Fengyuan Yin received the Student Leadership Award and Vasiliy Yakimenko was named an Outstanding Student in Finance.

Faculty members within the department come together to choose the recipient of the Outstanding Student in Finance award, which is given to a graduating student who exhibits academic excellence within the Master of Finance program.

“Vasya stood out with the seriousness and dedication devoted to any task,” said Leonardo Madureira, associate dean of research and faculty, and professor of banking and finance. “He was always the first to ask questions and to come up with answers.”

The Student Leadership Award is peer nominated and is awarded to a student who serves as a leader and role model for all students. The recipient also promotes the Master of Finance program and the Weatherhead School of Management image in a positive way, contributes to the community and stimulates the classroom experience.

Fengyuan is recognized by his peers for his work in organizing events and for his leadership and willingness to always help his classmates.
