Meet Weatherhead's 2021-22 Alumni Advisory Council (AAC)
Brittany Folino
MBA '20
Brittany Folino is a global product line owner in Lubrizol’s consumer engine lubricants business. She has been with Lubrizol since 2012 in a variety of roles, including consumer and market insights and HR. Prior to Lubrizol, she worked in sales and management for Enterprise Holdings. She has a master of business administration with a focus on finance and strategy and an undergraduate degree in marketing from Kent State University.
Why did you join the AAC?
I joined the AAC to support Weatherhead in bringing together the great talent of its alum network and help the future generations of students. Through purposeful alumni and student engagement, we can help to further enrich the programs and classes offered at Weatherhead, as well as the communities in which its students and alum work and live.
Maureen Garnett
MS, Management Information Systems '07
Maureen Garnett holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Science from the Department of Operations at Case Western Reserve Weatherhead School of Management. She has over 25 years of industry experience starting out in Automotive Semiconductor Chip Design, Embedded Controls, and now Industrial Automation. She currently works supporting automation hardware and software integration across all industries. The combination of technology and customer interaction in her present position has allowed her to exercise skills obtained from both her science and business degrees.During her time at Case Weatherhead School of Management, she served on the Graduate Student Senate.
Why did you join the AAC?
After graduating from Weatherhead School of Management, she has served as a regional Vice President of Society of Women Engineers, United Way Young Leaders (Cleveland), University of Illinois Leadership Program coach, First Robotics Judge/Mentor, Case Western Reserve W.I.S.E.R Mentor, and Society of Women Engineers National Chapter/ Scholarship judge.Some of her awards include the University of Illinois Department of Electrical Engineering Young Alumni Achievement Award, Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio Advancing Women Award for Society of Women Engineers, and receiving a Six Sigma Transactional Yellow Belt.
James Morse
B.S. Management ‘09
James Morse is the Vice President and Head of Product Management at BrandMuscle. James has his PMP certification and more than 12 years of experience in Through Channel Marketing Automation, distributed marketing, co-op marketing, project management, and new client implementations for Fortune 500 brands. Prior to BrandMuscle, James managed ongoing client relationships and new client onboarding in both SaaS and higher education at Easy2 Technologies and Perceptis, respectively.
Why did you join the AAC?
Since graduating from Case, I have consistently sought opportunities to engage with students and prospects of the university to share advice and guidance where possible. Throughout my years as an alumnus, I have continued to be impressed with the direction of Weatherhead’s professors and staff. The Weatherhead Alumni Advisory Council’s mission was a perfect marriage with my goals for giving back to the university that provided me so much.
Mahesh Krishnan
MBA '99
Mahesh Krishnan is a 25 year veteran of the healthcare industry. Mahesh is the Chief Commercial Officer at MiRus, a life sciences company based in Atlanta, GA, and is responsible for all sales, marketing, commercial activities. Prior to joining MiRus, he was the Vice President for building and growing the Orthopedic CT business in the US & Canada at Carestream Health. Mahesh has been the VP for the Southeast area for spine business at Depuy Synthes (J&J) managing both direct and indirect channels, and leading the team to continued growth in consecutive years. In addition, Mahesh has diverse experience in several leadership roles; launched products as global marketing director at Philips, managed P&L as VP of eastern division at Alliance Healthcare, managed southeast sales operations of Philips imaging business, and managed sales in Latin America for Marconi Medical systems. Mahesh has a BS in EE from the University of Madras, India, MS in BME from the University of Kentucky, and MBA in finance from Case Western Reserve University.
Why did you join the AAC?
My wife, Bhuvana Krishnan also went to Weatherhead for her MBA and we have very fond memories of professors and peers who have had an impact on us professionally and while at school. I have always wanted to help Weatherhead students with finding opportunities and mentoring them in possible ways but have not found the time to invest in this activity. I finally decided to join the alumni group to see how I can collaborate with other WSOM alumni to help raise the profile and rankings of Weatherhead. I had fond memories of and was very impressed by Scott Cowen when he was the Dean of WSOM and when I saw he was interim President at Case, I decided to write a note to Weatherhead AAC to help.
Daniel Herman
MBA '85
Daniel Herman assists healthcare providers in optimizing the value of their information technology investments. Daniel has over 40 years of experience in healthcare information technology strategic planning, design, and implementation; Electronic Health Record (EHR) planning and patient safety improvement; business process redesign; and, digital health strategic planning. He founded and served as Managing Director of Aspen Advisors, industry-recognized information technology and operations improvement consulting firm comprised of over 150 professionals which merged with The Chartis Group in 2014.
Why did you join the AAC?
I joined the WSOM AAC to assist students in their career progression. Besides having foundational competencies (technical abilities and sound written and oral communication skills), I believe it's critical for early-career individuals to build and use "relationship expansion" prowess to promote career growth.
Malcolm Henoch
EMBA '94
An executive with more than 30 years of strategic and operations leadership in health systems and multi-specialty medical group practice. Retired from Chief Medical Officer and governance roles with Beaumont Health, Royal Oak, Michigan in 2018. With visionary and collaborative skills to identify and address critical strategic, financial, and operational opportunities. Distinctive competencies in strategic visioning, team building, communication, and achieving long-range objectives, with a reputation for impeccable integrity and commitment to clinical excellence.
Why did you join the AAC?
The Weatherhead EMBA education through its curriculum and my classmates provided essential vocabulary, knowledge, and skills vital to my professional and personal growth. That education has been key to my success over the subsequent 25 years of my career. The AAC offers multiple paths to give back to the School, to share my experience and perspectives with the Weatherhead family of students and graduates, and to offer support in building a vibrant future in education and research at Weatherhead.
Igor Tutelman
BS Accounting '19, Master of Accountancy '20
Igor is a recent graduate, accountant, and entrepreneur. Igor is starting his next job at I. Schumann & Co., a local copper manufacturing company in Cleveland as an Accounting Manager and Operations Analyst. Before this, Igor ran his own private tax consulting practice as an advisor for hundreds of entrepreneurs and small businesses.. Igor studied Accounting and Data Analytics at CWRU and WSOM and is now studying for his CPA licensure. In the past, Igor founded SupplyNow, a software company saving restaurants money on their procurement through aggregating purchasing and competitive bidding, and continues as an angel investor in several food technology companies.
Why did you join the AAC?
I joined the AAC because of my Weatherhead Experience. My empowering experiences as a WSOM student helped me understand and develop my strengths in accounting and tax. Through all the support of my faculty and staff, I was able to secure multiple internships for global leaders in my field, meet unique individuals from around the world, and combine my background of accounting with my passions for entrepreneurship to truly think beyond the possible and start my first post-graduate career at the intersection of both. With my gratitude, I feel compelled to give back to the institutions that helped me grow and thrive. I will bring my fresh perspective as a recent graduate to the AAC and help future generations of accountants, entrepreneurs, and business professionals do the same.
Dr. James Hemsath
DBA '17
Jim Hemsath (recently retired) has over 45 years of experience managing large projects and economic development in Alaska and the Arctic. He has worked for BP, the Federal DOE and at retirement with the State of Alaska. Currently, he is teaching as adjunct faculty at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) in the College of Business and Public Policy, classes in Organizational Behavior and Applied Management. He is writing an online text on organizational Behavior and Organizational Development to support these classes. In addition to my DBA from Case, my undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, and Master’s degrees in Industrial Engineering (CSU)and Engineering Management (University of Alaska). I am a member of the advisory boards for the College of Engineering at UAA. Past VP for the UAA Alumni Association as well as a member of Alaska’s State Committee on Research (SCoR) and have served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Alaska Aerospace Corporation as well as the Science and Technical Advisory Panel of the North Slope Science Initiative.
Why did you join the AAC?
First most to help make a difference in the entirety of what it is to be a student/alumni at Weatherhead. What can we do to continue to grow and make a difference in the world? Second to help connect what is an outlier program - the DM/DBA program whose alumni are amazing conduits to the practitioner world; and finally to enhance and maintain my contact with a university that provided me with a transformational experience.
Su Latt
M.S. Management '18
I am currently a Senior Data Scientist at the Cleveland Clinic, and I manage performance reporting, analytics, and modeling projects to support several marketing teams including advertising, digital strategy, and physician-marketing liaison teams. My main responsibility is to support the regional marketing campaigns using multiple channels such as TV, paid search, paid social, etc in Ohio and its surrounding states to bring in patients to the Heart, Vascular, and Thoracic Institute, Taussig Cancer Center, and Neurological Institute.
Why did you join the AAC?
I joined the Weatherhead AAC because I have always been very passionate about being involved and giving back to communities that I was luckily able to call 'Home', and I can proudly say that the Weatherhead school was one of them. With that, I still very much enjoy to be a part of this great community. I always love to share great experiences that I had at Weatherhead with everyone I know and want to help plan events and provide such wonderful experiences that I had as a Weatherhead student to current students.
Kun Xu
MS Finance '14
Kun has been working in the financial service industry since graduation from CWRU. Kun is currently working at Deutsche Bank (DB) as a quantitative model developer.
Why did you join the AAC?
Kun benefited from the Weatherhead network when finding a job after graduation and she hopes to give back.
Sidharth Malhotra
B.S. Mathematics, B.S. Management '04
Sidharth is a founding partner at Emerson Point Capital, an equity hedge fund. Prior to EPC, Sidharth worked at J.P. Morgan Alternative Asset Management from 2014 to 2017. Sidharth previously was the Head of Research at multi-family office Basel Asset Management from 2005 to 2013. Sidharth started his career at Banc of America Securities and at hedge fund JWM Partners. He received an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business (2014), as well as Bachelor of Arts in Economics, a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics, and a Bachelors of Science in Management from Case Western Reserve University (2004).
Why did you join the AAC?:
I joined the Weatherhead AAC to be more involved with the University and to make an impact on the current and future students.
