Q: Why did you choose this area of study?
A: I chose accounting because I've always been good with numbers and analyzing data, but wanted a career where I would be able to interact with people or clients. Accounting was a degree that I felt would provide me with a lot of options when looking into careers!
Q: What are your plans after graduation?
A: I am currently doing a busy season internship with Deloitte in their audit and assurance practice in Cleveland. For the 2021 to ’22 academic year, I will be returning to Weatherhead for my master in finance on the corporate financial analytics track. After that, conditional on an offer of course, I am hoping to return to Deloitte full time in the Cleveland audit practice.
Q: Why did you choose CWRU?
A: I chose CWRU for a few reasons. I'm from the Cleveland area originally, so at first I was hesitant on even looking at CWRU. Once I toured the school and spent some time in University Circle, I realized that even though my parents live so close, campus felt like its own bubble. Also, I loved the size of the school and the fact that I would be able to build relationships with the faculty. Finally, Weatherhead has a great reputation and I wanted to take advantage of that.
Q: What's your favorite memory of CWRU?
A: One of my favorite memories at CWRU was when I decided to run for the position of president within my business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi, and was elected. I had never run for a position like that before, let alone president, so it was definitely scary at the time, but after spending two years in the role, I am so glad I took that risk!
Q: As a graduating senior, what's one thing you'd like to share with incoming freshman?
A: Be thoughtful about how you choose to spend your time. School is definitely important, but so is taking time for yourself and friends. For clubs and extracurriculars, I always think it's best to give 100% to a few things versus joining 10 clubs and spreading yourself thin. In general, make sure what you're doing is worthwhile and intentional!
