Weatherhead School of Management is expanding professional development opportunities with its new product management micro-credentials program. Designed for busy professionals, the flexible program provides a rigorous, skill-building experience without the commitment of a full MBA, addressing the surge in demand for product management expertise across industries.

According to Zippia, the field is experiencing rapid growth, with a projected 10% job increase by 2028, 33,700 new positions over the next decade, and an average starting salary of more than $111,000. As demand increases, Weatherhead’s program offers a structured pathway for those looking to develop specialized skills in this evolving field.

Satish Nambisan, PhD, Nancy and Joseph Keithley Professor of Technology Management, said that as industries shift to product-oriented business models, they require professionals who can navigate the complexities of the field with confidence.

“In today’s rapidly evolving market, product management skills are more critical than ever,” said Nambisan. “Our micro-credentials program equips professionals with the expertise needed to stay competitive, adapt to industry shifts, and lead innovation in their organizations.”

The program serves two groups: MBA graduates with limited product management experience and individuals seeking product-specific skills without a full MBA. Participants can earn stackable 1.5-credit courses, which may later be applied toward an MBA at Weatherhead or other institutions.

Participants earn a digital badge, certifying their product management expertise and enhancing their professional credibility with employers and industry peers.

Courses include product management and leadership, product strategy and discovery, and product design, development and delivery, equipping students with the tools to drive product strategy, market analysis, and execution. The program also incorporates specialized topics like AI in product management and product pricing and business models. Courses are conducted online and in live sessions allowing students to balance education with their careers.

Weatherhead Associate Dean Suzanne Healy, EdD serves as a leader in educational initiatives and played a key role in Weatherhead’s efforts to launch the product management micro-credentials program.

“By completing all of the micro-credential programs our students become like mini-CEOs, gaining the skills and knowledge to lead their products and businesses with confidence, innovation, and strategic vision,” she said. “They learn the entire lifecycle of a product.”

The program is led by esteemed faculty who are senior leaders in product management, bringing cutting-edge insights and real-world expertise into the classroom. Their industry experience ensures students gain practical knowledge and strategies that directly apply to today’s evolving market.

The Weatherhead product management micro-credentials program offers a fast-track opportunity to gain real-world skills from industry leaders through flexible courses and hands-on learning. Designed for immediate application, it equips professionals with the expertise to drive product strategy, innovation, and growth, empowering them to lead their organizations in a competitive market.
