The upgraded system offers a more intuitive and powerful way to explore library resources.

Learn more and get support.

After a significant collaborative effort, the OhioLINK academic library consortium, which includes CWRU, is celebrating the successful transition to a new, modernized search platform! The upgrade to a more intuitive and efficient library experience is designed to make discovering and accessing library resources for learning, research, and teaching more streamlined.

On this page, we’ve outlined what can be expected from the new platform, important contacts for support, and a Library Migration FAQ.

How do I get help?

For any questions or concerns, Kelvin Smith Library offers several ways to get support. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your Research & Engagement Librarian, ASKSL, and schedule an appointment with a librarian, in person or via Zoom. You may also contact your school library below:

What has changed? What are the benefits to me?

While the search interface will visibly look different, most changes are happening behind the scenes. Your experience should be more intuitive and efficient, making it easier to connect to resources.

Improved Search: Discover media, print, and electronic books and journals through a single, intuitive search bar. This all-in-one portal brings together nearly all library collections (and beyond!), making it easier than ever to find what you need in one simple search.

This now includes Digital Case, our digital library featuring materials from CWRU Special Collections, University Archives, and partner institutions. These digital resources are freely available to anyone, anywhere in the world, to explore and download.

More Discovery: Explore and learn supported by AI-assisted research recommendations, citation trails, and citation management software exports. Access to full text will be faster, more reliable, and robust, including more support for Open Access and Open Educational Resources (OER).

Modern Interface: Enjoy a cleaner, improved user interface and search easily on your mobile device.

More Seamless Borrowing: Experience improvements in InterLibrary Loan resource sharing, offering faster and easier access to the OhioLINK consortium’s shared print catalog. More often, request a resource directly from the item page without extra clicks or logins and track your request in real-time.

Please see the Frequently Asked Questions about the new system.

What stays the same?

Research & Engagement Librarians (RELs) and Service Desk staff continue to help you navigate library resources and services, find specific items and information, develop search strategies, and support your research and teaching. Find the librarian for your discipline.

While the collection remains unchanged, your experience is about to improve. You will still have access to the millions of books and electronic resources as before, now with a new and more intuitive way to search across them.

What does this mean for me as a library user?

All library users are encouraged to take time to familiarize themselves with the new interface and enhanced features. The KSL website has also been updated slightly to reflect new functions. Your library account information will transfer to the new system. Although the update is user-friendly and more intuitive, library staff are here to help make the transition as smooth as possible.
