Digitization Equipment

Scanners

There are two scanning computers; see the lab Research Guide for station location. These machines are hooked up to a number of scanners, each with its own Research Guide to assist in self-service use.

Please note you will need an external storage device or cloud storage option, as these computers cannot hold files of a significant size. They are also wiped routinely.

A/V Capture

There are two A/V capture computers. The A/V editing workstations allow users to digitize, edit, study, and export A/V materials with the guidance of our online tutorials. See the lab Research Guide for station location and tutorials. If you need assistance, schedule a consultation by booking directly or emailing FreedmanCenter@case.edu.

Please note the digitization process is in real time, so 1 hour of video takes 1 hour to digitize. Video generally needs to be compressed into more manageable files after it has been digitized as the raw digitized format is 12GB per hour. This process also takes time.
