About the Center

The Freedman Center is closed!

To support a transition to new spaces and technology, the Freedman Center is closed and will reopen in August 2025. See this webpage for more information.

The Freedman Center for Digital Scholarship supports research, teaching, and learning that relies on advanced technology. The Center's technology lab with computer workstations and groupwork area, the Commons, are open to CWRU affiliates and community patrons. Fast facts about the Center:

  • Located: first floor of Kelvin Smith Library
  • Available to: CWRU affiliates and the public
  • Hours: the Center is self-service when the library is open with staff available for walk-ins Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and by appointment during normal business hours
  • Provides: Windows computers, research software, digitization equipment, equipment lending, space for collaboration, a workshop series, fellowships for faculty, and consultation on digital research projects

The Freedman Center for Digital Scholarship is partially maintained by an endowment established by Samuel B. and Marian K. Freedman.
