Food is Medicine
CWRU's first-year medical students had the opportunity to participate in a hands-on culinary medicine learning experience in the Nutrition Department Teaching Kitchen during the first week of January. The event was documented by the CWRU Newsroom.
“This session really opened my eyes, not only to making healthy nutrition choices, but also safe ones,” shared Medical Education Pathway student Arthy Suresh. “I also really enjoyed spending time with my classmates in the kitchen—cooking together, sharing the meal and celebrating each other’s creations.”

The Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Wellness and Preventive Care Pathway
Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine prides itself on molding the best and brightest students into the finest healthcare professionals in the field. The Mandel Wellness and Preventive Care Pathway focuses on preparing students for excellence in the field of multi-dimensional and holistic wellness, equipping them with the knowledge and training to encourage healthy lifestyles in themselves and future patients. Wellness Pathway content, including a speaker series, practical applications in healthy cooking, relaxation techniques and more. Participants will emerge with an understanding and appreciation of wellness that encompasses mind, body and spirit, as well as social and environmental factors.
