Research

Aundra Willis Carrasco joins SJI via Zoom

Scholars across a range of specialties at Case Western Reserve University continuously demonstrate their commitment and passion for research and engagement in the broader community to advance justice. These faculty members produce scholarship that addresses disparities, inequalities, oppression, social policy, technology, movements and change.

While the Institute's Leadership Team members conduct individual research related to their particular specialties, they also provide intellectual partnership to their colleagues and students alike through SJI's Faculty and Student Research Fellowship Grants

The Institute prides itself on furthering social justice research through its own research projects. Past research includes one of the Institute's major initiatives, the Voicing and Action Project. Currently, the Institute is focused on tracking fatal encounters with law enforcement throughout Ohio, exploring the treatment of Cuyahoga County youth in the juvenile and adult legal systems, and conducting an oral history project surrounding the life and legacy of Winston Willis.
