Large corporations and successful start-up companies host information sessions either on campus or virtually for several reasons. Some may want to provide insight into their company culture and application process, while others may want you to network with potential employees. Attending an information session either virtually or in-person, allows the employer to be introduced to you in a more immersive way. This may lead to better success with your job/internship search more than being just an invisible applicant in an applicant tracking system.
Employers manage their information session logistics in Handshake. Log in to your Handshake account to RSVP for an employer information session and stay current with any changes to their events.

What is an Information Session?
An Information Session is an excellent way to learn more about an employer, land an interview, and get questions answered by alumni and employer staff. An Information Session gives students the opportunity to determine if the employer they are considering would be the right choice for them.
Who can attend?
Any student interested in the employer is welcome to attend Information Sessions, regardless of whether they have an interview scheduled.
When are Information Sessions held?
Information Sessions can be held any time, but the fall is primary recruiting time, so more events are scheduled then. We try to encourage employers coming to campus, to hold their events at times that are more convenient for students.
What should I wear?
Information Sessions are a great opportunity to leave an impression with an employer. Business casual is suggested unless indicated otherwise. For men or women, this could be khakis or nice dress pants and a nice button down shirt. You may not be required to wear a suit, but you should NOT wear jeans, shorts, flip flops or any type of casual clothing.
Where can I find more information and register?
Log in to Handshake, click the Events tab. Under the category drop down you can choose Employer Info. Other sessions may appear under Career Center Employer Events or Events Hosted by Employers. Review Information Sessions and RSVP. An employer reviews RSVPs prior to attending their session. If the session is in person and they are providing food, please follow through with your RSVP. The better engagement the employer gets on campus, the more often they will visit and the more they will recruit!
