The residential guest policy is governed by the Student Code of Conduct, which makes residential students responsible for their guests' behavior and any policy violations they commit within the residential communities. Guests must adhere to university rules, including restrictions on alcohol and drug use, prohibited items, and respectful conduct. Residential students who fail to adequately inform guests or control their behavior may face disciplinary action, while guests themselves could face campus bans or criminal charges.
- Guest Behavior: all residential students are responsible for their guests' conduct at all times.
- Accompanying Guests: all guests must remain with their CWRU host at all times.
- Policy Awareness: You must make reasonable efforts to inform your guests about university policies and expected behaviors.
- Accountability: If your guests violate any university policies, you may be held accountable pursuant to the Code of Conduct.
- No ID Transfer: ID cards and keys cannot be transferred to guests.
Safety and Security: Guests are prohibited from bringing weapons, unauthorized items, or creating unsafe situations on campus.
Alcohol and Drugs: Guests must comply with laws and university policies regarding alcohol and controlled substances.
Disruptive Behavior: Guests cannot engage in disorderly, lewd, indecent, or harassing behavior.
Unauthorized Access: Guests cannot possess or use unauthorized keys, ID cards, or enter restricted university premises.
Accountability: Students who fail to uphold these responsibilities may face sanctions, and guests can be banned from campus or face criminal charges.
Visitation & Overnight Guests: residential students must have the approval of all roommates and suitemates to host guests, including a three-night limit for any single overnight guest.
Medical Amnesty Policy: In cases of alcohol or drug-related emergencies involving guests, the Medical Amnesty Policy may apply, but requires the student to take steps for educational follow-up.
