The Organization Development Network (ODN) is the largest and longest running international association of organization development (OD) researchers, professionals and students in the world.
In 2023, Weatherhead School of Management Distinguished University Professor David Cooperrider was honored with outstanding article of the year in ODN’s journal Organization Development Review and received the association’s Elevating Humanity Award.
This month, Cooperrider was elected to the ODN’s board of trustees.
“Organization development is all about organizational change and betterment—it’s about positive change leadership for whole organizations and large complex human systems—and today we are entering a period of never ending, unprecedented disruption,” said Cooperrider. "It’s a moment where the management science of change leadership is coming of age. I am honored to now serve the OD field as a trustee and, at the same time, proud to represent Weatherhead’s long history of intellectual leadership in this domain via our master's in positive OD, our Executive Education Appreciative Inquiry Certificate programs, the applied sustainability and net-positive business strategy work of Fowler Center, and our PhD in OB.”
Cooperrider’s bold vision for the future of OD’s change leadership profession, and one of the reasons he was elected trustee of the ODN is articulated in the special issue of the Organization Development Review that he and Professor Lindsey Godwin have co-edited and titled: “One Giant Leap: How Organization Development and Change Can Help Organizations, Industries, and World-Changing Megacommunities Lead the Net-Positive Earthshot.”
