In order to develop your skills in practical settings, we encourage you to broaden your abilities through participation in competitions and conferences.
Competitions
A case competition is an excellent chance to show that you possess both academic prowess and practical know-how. You can participate in a number of case competitions, including:
- Morgenthaler-Pavey Startup Competition: An annual startup venture competition.
- McKinsey Case Competition: An annual consulting case competition.
- Emory University - Goizueta Business School UBSCL Case Competition: A student-run international conference held annually at Emory University's Goizueta Business School, with more than 50 students from around the world. UBSLC provides a forum for top undergraduate business students to meet with leading business executives, cultivate meaningful connections and unify under a common theme designed to help them become more effective leaders and professionals. What these leaders learn here will impact hundreds of students at their home schools and thousands of their future coworkers.
- ACG Cup Case Competition: A case study competition designed to give students from leading university business programs across the country real world experience and invaluable insights into mergers and acquisitions, investment banking, financial advisory and private equity.
- Kelley School of Business National Diversity Case Competition (NDCC): A premier event that brings together top-level, diverse talent from colleges and universities across the country. This event includes networking, a case competition, and workshops. Corporate partners have the opportunity to recruit students by judging the case competition, presenting workshops, and engaging in networking.
Conferences
Presenting at an academic conference is an excellent opportunity to take your research project a step further, to hone public speaking skills, to increase your network, and to prepare for a career or a graduate degree.
You’re encouraged to participate in such opportunities, including:
- KeyBank Leadership and Creativity Undergraduate Minority Student Symposium: An annual symposium for business and engineering junior and senior students focusing on leadership, creativity, product innovation, spreadsheet management, entrepreneurial thinking, persuasive communication, and the art of “putting it all together.”
- Forté Conferences for Undergraduate Women
- Forté National Campus to Business Leadership Conference: Wherever your dreams take you, you need business skills to get started. You’ll get hands-on business simulations, career prep workshops, and networking opportunities.
- College Fast Track to Finance Conference: Finance needs more women with diverse backgrounds. You’ll get interactive finance simulations, leadership skill-building workshops, and insights to finance careers.
- Women of Color Leadership Symposium: When women of color have their voices heard, we all win. You’ll get critical thinking workshops and tips on maximizing mentorships and bringing your authentic self to the workplace.
- Undergraduate Leadership Summit: Exclusive opportunity to connect and build relationships with other high-achieving undergraduate student leaders across the Forté undergraduate partner institutions
- EEC’s Entrepreneurship Immersion Week: Intensive, one-week academic immersion experience for undergraduates from all disciplines designed to teach the basic skills needed when developing new business concepts.
- Nestle Diversity Leadership Symposium: An annual two-day immersion program—developed for diverse students interested in business—where students gain career insight, participate in leader/career development skill sessions, and network with business leaders.
