We build and manage our physical and digital collections according to our policies. Check out our user-friendly guides to understand CWRU's open access and publishing initiatives.
Donating Books
We accept gifts of rare and unique books, as well as other cultural heritage materials. Textbooks, popular fiction and trade books, popular magazines of issues of periodicals, and titles we already have are outside of our collecting policy.
Location, Retention, and Disposition of Print Materials
We reserve on-site shelf space for high-use materials and items without digital equivalents, while off-site depository items remain requestable. We balance curricular needs, historical significance, and preservation to keep our collection relevant and accessible.
Open Access
Learn how CWRU supports open research with faculty policy guidance, open access agreements, and compliance support. Use our guides to manage your ORCID profile, share your work, and maximize scholarly impact.
Scholarly Commons @ CWRU Administration and Policies
Scholarly Commons @ CWRU provides open access institutional preservation for scholarly and creative works produced by CWRU affiliates. Authors retain copyright through a non-exclusive license, ensuring their research, publications, and conference materials are preserved with permanent links and shared freely worldwide.
Streaming Films Acquisitions
We acquire and license streaming films to support your curricular and research needs. To request a title we do not currently license, fill out the video request form.
