Visitors, Patrons, and Building Access Policies

These policies help ensure that all visitors have reliable and equitable access to our services, spaces, and collections.

Code of Conduct

We strive to maintain an inclusive and productive environment for research and study. Please treat fellow patrons, staff, and library spaces with respect, follow designated floor noise levels, and adhere to university safety and acceptable use policies.

Community Access

Community visitors are welcome to explore our collections, spaces, and services during visitor hours. We ask that all visitors present a valid photo ID at the Service Center desk.

Graduate Study Carrels

We offer assigned graduate study carrels on the first and third floors of KSL to support students conducting thesis, dissertation, or program research. Carrels are allocated annually via an online request period each September and are available to enrolled graduate students in good standing.

ID Policy

We ask all patrons to present a valid photo ID to enter KSL. CWRU affiliates can simply tap their ID at the entrance during, while community members and alumni must present a valid physical government-issued photo ID.

Lost and Found

Found items are held at the Service Center desk through the end of the semester, while high-value items (such as wallets, phones, and IDs) are transferred daily to CWRU Police. If you’ve misplaced a personal belonging, please check at the Service Center or contact library staff.

Public Posting

Promotional fliers and materials from recognized campus and community groups may be displayed on designated public bulletin boards and lobby literature holders across the library’s first, second, and third floors. Posting on doors, windows, elevators, and furniture is prohibited, and donation boxes or special event signage require prior approval from KSL Administration.
