The current cohort of Freedman Scholars consists of the following students:
Ryan Armstrong: a doctoral student in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. He is interested in Data Analysis, R, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Samhitha Bodangi: a biomedical engineering and computer science undergraduate student. She is interested in Data Analysis, Python, and LLMs.
Salimatou Diallo: a biomedical engineering major with minors in computer science and women’s, gender, and sexuality studies. She is interested in Generative AI and LLMs, game design, and data visualization.
Ángel Axel Méndez Mejía: an Engineering Physics major. He is particularly interested in LLMs, machine learning, and Python.
Liza Viers: a musicology PhD student with a BA in musicology and Latin American studies. She is interested in digitization and data visualization. Her work as a Scholar focuses on historical research of the Center and its programming, including creating digital exhibits and virtual storytelling.
