In-House Technology

KSL offers a variety of technological resources to CWRU and community patrons. These include Wi-Fi, computer access, UTech technology assistance, and printing services.

Patrons looking for scanning equipment, access to the A/V Capture Studio, equipment borrowing, and advanced technology can learn more on the Freedman Center for Digital Scholarship page.

CWRU members can log into campus wifi using their Case ID information. This network is named ‘CaseWireless’.

Visiting patrons can access wifi under the network 'CaseGuest'. The only requirement for access is the acceptance of user conditions.

WEPA is a cloud-based printing network that allows anyone with an internet connection to upload documents and print anywhere a WEPA kiosk is located. There are two printing stations on the main floor of KSL, one is a color printer while the other is exclusively black and white.

Printing for CWRU affiliated patrons: The WEPA network is connected to CWRU single sign-on, so creating your WEPA account is as easy as logging in. The website and print applications will ask you to select your school. After selecting Case Western Reserve University, you'll be brought to the CWRU single sign-on page. For more detailed information on how to print with WEPA, go to CWRU's WEPA Print Guide.

Printing for Community Patrons: Community members and guests can also create a WEPA account. Guest accounts have full access to the WEPA network. While they are not required to print or pay for print jobs, the available options are more limited. Community patrons without a WEPA account can print from a USB drive or cloud service at the kiosk. Jobs can also be printed in advance using the print driver or email-to-print and released using a code. Community members can pay at the time of printing with a credit card, PayPal, or a $5 WEPA print card available for purchase near the entrance of KSL. Wepa print cards must be purchased with cash. For more detailed information on how to print with WEPA, visit the WEPA website.

KSL has four desktop computers on the first floor for CWRU Alumni, CIA, or community patron use only. These can be used for a daily maximum of 120 minutes per patron. To use our community computers, see a staff member at the Service Center desk for help.

Patrons must agree to terms and conditions for access. Community computers shut down 30 minutes prior to the end of community access hours for the day. Login access ends 60 minutes prior to the end of community access hours. Computers in the Library are for educational research purposes and library resources are not to be used for commercial endeavors. Electronic content licenses are for personal educational use only. Community patrons may use designated visitor computers at CWRU libraries to view electronic content.

Our laptop kiosk offers 3-hour, library-use only loans of both MacBook Air and Dell laptops. The kiosk is located near the Service Center on the first floor of KSL. Funded and supported by U[Tech], this service is available to CWRU & CIM students, faculty and staff, and UH/Cleveland Clinic Residents. CWRU Alumni, CIA, and community patrons are not permitted to check out a laptop. For information on community computer access, please see 'Community Computers' above.

Laptops must be returned to the kiosk at or before the 3-hour loan period up. If a laptop is held beyond the 3-hour loaning period, the user's account will begin to accrue a $5 fine per hour overdue. Once the laptop has been returned, patrons may check out another laptop. The kiosk will not loan the same laptop (unless it is the only one) back to the user. The Kiosk will not allow simultaneous laptop loans to the same library card. Please visit the kiosk to confirm availability; We do not provide web access to our laptop availability.

KSL offers monitors for dual screen computing to CWRU patrons only. These monitors are located on the first, second, and third floors of the library. To use these monitors, simply connect your laptop to the provided HDMI cable at the station. There is no need to check in with staff to use these monitors.

There is currently one catalog computer available on the third floor of KSL, in front of the elevators.

The UTech C.A.R.E. Center offers walk-up technical support to CWRU patrons. It is located on the lower level of Kelvin Smith Library. Community patrons may ask questions, receive consultation or check-in machines for repair by our on-site team. For more information on UTech and their operating hours, visit the UTech website.
