Integrated Graduate Studies (IGS) and BS/MS

Program Details

  • Students can be admitted to graduate study for the senior year of their undergraduate degree
    • Students will simultaneously pursue the completion of requirements for both the Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees
      • **Courses taken before formal admission into the IGS program cannot be double counted
  • Students must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours
    • At least 90 credit hours at the undergraduate level
    • At least 30 credit hours at the graduate level
  • Upon admission to IGS by Graduate Studies, students register as students in the School of Graduate Studies and are subject to the policies, rules, and regulations of the School of Graduate Studies. In addition, students in the IGS program pay graduate tuition rates.
    • Students may, however, continue to:
      • Receive merit-based undergraduate scholarships.
      • Reside in undergraduate housing during what would normally be their senior year of undergraduate work.

Students who have already been admitted into the IGS program AND * have a previously established relationship with a faculty PI may submit a request to work on an independent 398 project distinct from the established 398 program currently available for all undergraduate nutrition majors. As noted,  this means that at the time of registration for NTRN 398, the student needs to have had a history of working with that faculty member and already have been accepted into this program. Students are requested to complete this form for their 398 project approval. Students are also able to continue involvement with the established 398 program as established by the department.

*Note: The Ohio Department of Education has mandated changes for credit hour requirements for higher education integrated graduate studies programs. For this reason, students are only eligible to apply to the Nutrition IGS program if matriculated in Fall, 2019 or before.

Application Process

  1. Complete Nutrition Department IGS Applicant Verification Checklist and submit to Academic Advisor for approval.
  2. Once approval is received from Academic Advisor, complete the online CWRU Graduate School Application
  3. Complete the Planned Program of Study (PPOS) Form with your Academic Advisor
    1. Upload the completed PPOS Form to the online application and submit your completed online application.
  4. If you are accepted by the Department, you MUST have the PPOS form reviewed and signed by Undergraduate Studies. Undergraduate Studies will give the form to Graduate Studies for final review. 
    1. **To expedite this process, email your completed PPOS form to Dean Nancy Dilulio for review as soon as you submit your online application.
  5. Once your PPOS form has been approved by the Department, Undergraduate Studies, and Graduate Studies, you will be issued your official offer letter from Graduate Studies.
  6. You will need to accept the offer of admission in order to matriculate with a graduate record in SIS.
