Minor Programs In Nutrition

What is the significance of a minor?

A minor concentration requires that approximately 15 credit hours of specified coursework be completed in a discipline other than the chosen major and that a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 be attained. Therefore, the completion of a minor indicates that the student has made a significant academic investment either to complement or supplement their major.

Minor in Food is Medicine

*New as of fall 2026*

This minor addresses the critical need for specialized knowledge in using food-based interventions alongside typical health protective practices. This will help prepare undergraduates for careers in nutrition, food policy, public health, and professional healthcare. Graduates will gain expertise needed to contribute to innovations in health and wellness, advocate for food-based health solutions, and support diverse populations in achieving better health through their understanding of different human diets and dietary components. This will enhance students' competitiveness in numerous fields including medicine, community health, and public health government agencies.
