Case Western Reserve University's Amazon Business Prime Account offers many business-specific benefits such as free Amazon Business Prime membership and access to millions of products only available to Business Customers. However, Amazon Business Prime is not a preferred vendor and should be considered a last resort after consulting preferred and SmartCART vendors.
Payment Method
A CWRU PCard is the only accepted form of payment for Amazon Business purchases. Effective November 1, 2022, PCard transactions made outside of the consolidated Amazon Business Prime account are against the revised PCard policy and are grounds for PCard suspension. Additionally, effective January 1, 2022, no Amazon or Amazon Business purchases will be reimbursable through T&E Reimbursements.
Account Access
All new users will be required to complete the Amazon Business training available on Canvas before receiving access to the consolidated account. Please contact pcard@case.edu to get started.
Ordering Process
All Amazon Business Prime orders are reviewed by Procurement and spot checked for compliance with University policy, PCard policy, price comparison to SmartCART vendors, and risk concerns.
Some items have been restricted or blocked by Procurement & Distribution Services. These items typically can be purchased from SmartCART or other preferred vendors. They are identified by red or orange notations which mark them as either "Organization blocked" or "Organization restricted". For restricted items, during the checkout process, you will be prompted to explain the reason for the purchase. If approved, the purchase can be completed. Some common reasons for exceptions may include the item is unavailable on SmartCART, or the pricing is better than a preferred vendor.
