Course Usage Report

Are you considering inactivating a course and need to know which courses or majors are using your course as a requisite or as an academic requirement? The Course Usage Report can help.

You can find the Course Usage Report by using the NavBar in the upper right and going to Navigator > Curriculum Management > Course Usage Report.

If you haven't used this before, you'll need to create a new run control by clicking Add a New Value. We recommend including your net ID in it like abc123_course_usage, then follow these steps:

  1. Enter CASE1 as the academic institution.
  2. For the As Of Date you can use the date you're running it.
  3. Click the look up icon to find the course ID. When you click the look up icon, click Advanced Lookup, then enter the subject and the catalog number. You may need to enter a percent sign (%) in front of the catalog number, such as %101.
  4. Then click Run, then OK.
  5. Click Process Monitor, then click Refresh until it says "Success" under the Run Status and “Posted” under the Distribution Status.
  6. After it says Posted, click Details, then click View Log/Trace, then click the PDF file to view the report.

Course lists, academic requirements, and requirement groups are related to academic advising reports. Enrollment requirements are related to requisites used on courses. If you have questions about the results of the report, you can reach out to courses@case.edu.

Tableau and Additional Reporting

As you may know, the Data Warehouse was decommissioned last March. Tableau has been selected as the enterprise analytics solution, and dashboards and reports are now available in Tableau. If you had access to the Data Warehouse, you should have access to Tableau. Find the new platform by going to data.case.edu.

Because there are multiple ways to find data, we’ve created an Additional Reporting page to help you decipher the best place to find what you’re looking for. The page is organized by data category and then system. Here you will find instructions for locating data in SIS and Tableau.

SOC Resources

Did you know we have step by step instructions for the processes used in scheduling classes? These are available on our SIS Resources page. Scroll to the bottom and you will see guides for class scheduling and instructions for running Schedule of Classes reports.
