    August Seminar: Dietary Inflammation Index (DII) among SNAP Utilizers

    Presenter: Tim Ciesielski, ScD, MD, MPH - Swetland Center for Environmental Health

    Attendees learned about factors associated with elevated dietary inflammation among SNAP utilizers in a low-income, urban setting.

    July Seminar: Understanding Food Systems from a Life Cycle Perspective

    Attendees learned about the environmental impacts associated with crop production in the U.S. Midwest, as well as respiratory effects associated with residential proximity to biorefineries in New York State.

    Policy & Program Planning Skills - Mobilizing the Community to Dismantle Racism

    Attendees learned about the approach that First Year Cleveland is taking to address the impact of racism on infant and maternal mortality, and how the City of Cleveland declared racism as a "public health crisis".

    Attendees learned about the Produce Perks Midwest program's positive impact on the food system throughout Cleveland in 2019, including an overview of the WIC Perks program and how the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) was restructured to ensure healthy food access for individuals most affected by COVID-19.
