Foundations and History
UCITE offered the Mentor Fellows Program for five years, in an effort to encourage positive and constructive mentoring relationships between graduate students and faculty. This series of seminars was designed to engage faculty to reflect and improve on their own mentoring practices and engage in thoughtful discussions with other faculty from across the university on how to improve the quality of mentoring.
As of Fall 2017, the Mentor Fellows Program is being offered through the Office of Faculty Development.
The program has had nearly 70 faculty participate so far. The structure of the program is a semester-long, seminar-type course in which faculty read and discuss the research literature on mentoring, and learn how to apply those lessons in their own mentoring relationships.
