UCITE AI in Teaching & Learning Workshops

Authors and fellow higher education colleagues José Antonio Bowen and C. Edward Watson advocated: “It is the job of educators to help students become better thinkers. Our new job is to help them become even better thinkers with AI” (2024, p. 77). If you think AI could play a supporting role in your students’ learning, UCITE is excited to consider this process with you.

UCITE will offer three interactive workshops this semester, focused on Teaching and Learning with AI. These workshops are part of a larger effort, led by the Provost’s Office, to integrate artificial intelligence with student learning. Visit the Provost’s new AI in Education website to learn more about campus-wide AI initiatives and resources.

Explore the Possibilities of AI to Enhance Your Teaching!

Are you ready to take your AI literacy to the next level and apply it directly to your teaching? The UCITE AI in Teaching & Learning Workshop Series offers hands-on, interactive sessions designed to help you leverage AI for course design, student engagement, and feedback.

These one-hour, hybrid workshops provide practical, ready-to-use strategies for faculty who already have basic familiarity with AI tools. UCITE recommends that interested faculty complete the [U]Tech Teaching and Learning Technologies Canvas course, Getting Started with Generative AI in Education, or have some experience with LLMs and basic prompting tools before attending.

Attend one, two, or all three workshops -- each session is topically independent, so you can choose what fits your needs!

What You'll Do:

  • Experiment with AI tools in real time
  • Learn structured prompting ideas to get individualized results
  • Apply AI-generated ideas directly to one or more of your courses
  • Discuss practical and ethical applications of AI in education

What You'll Take Away:

  • AI-driven strategies for course design, assessment, and student engagement
  • Ready-to-use AI-enhanced learning activities
  • Ideas for guiding students in responsible AI use
  • Confidence in leveraging AI as a thought partner in teaching and learning

Bonus for In-Person Participants! Faculty who attend at least two of the three workshops in person will receive a free copy of Teaching with AI: A practical guide to a new era of human learning by José Antonio Bowen and C. Edward Watson (2024).
