Study abroad programs for students at Case Western Reserve University, vary in length, timing and structure.

  • Long-term study abroad: You can spend an entire semester(s) at any one of CWRU’s 75+ study abroad partner institutions; register for a full course load (12+ credit hours) overseas and transfer courses back to CWRU.
  • Short-term/faculty-led study abroad: You can spend your winter and spring breaks or spring (May Abroad), May, and summer I and II terms studying abroad with a three-credit-hour CWRU course (commonly called "short-term" or "faculty-led"). 
  • Summer study abroad: This summer study abroad option involves directly enrolling in summer courses at any of CWRU’s partner institutions.
  • Research/internship/practicum abroad: You can spend a summer or an entire semester participating in research or a practicum abroad. Work with the Post-Graduate Planning and Experiential Learning Office for help finding internship/practicum experiences.

The London School of Economics 

The London School of Economics and Political Science, founded in 1895, has grown to become one of the foremost social science universities globally, ranked alongside Harvard, UC Berkeley and Stanford. The university boasts 16 Nobel laureates among its alumni, and its current student population contains citizens of 145 countries. LSE offers programs in accounting, economics, finance, and management. 

Note: Full-year and summer programs are both available, but LSE does not allow single-semester study.

Tongji University (China)

Due to its growth from a small market town in imperial China to a 21st-century megalopolis, Shanghai is an ideal city to study business, whether for a semester or a full academic year. The Tongji University School of Economics and Management (SEM) offers a wide variety of business administration courses taught in English and Chinese courses for English speakers. 

University of Sydney (Australia)

Set on one of the world’s most beautiful harbors, Sydney is a bustling global city with amenities and opportunities to match. The University of Sydney Business School is a world-class business school at the forefront of business and management education worldwide. Semester- and year-long exchanges contain coursework in accounting, finances, international business and marketing.

Goethe University (Germany)

Goethe University Frankfurt, positioned among the top international research universities, offers a wide variety of academic programs, a diverse group of research institutes, and a focus on interdisciplinary approaches to solving complex problems. Undergraduate business coursework is taught in German for students participating in semester-long and academic-year programs.

Universidad Carlos III (Spain)

Universidad Carlos III de Madrid has a wide variety of business courses, and its Department of Business Administration is consistently ranked #1 in Spain. Many classes are taught in English, so previous knowledge of Spanish is encouraged but not required.
