International Recruiting

To compete in today’s global economy, organizations need the diversity of thought that global talent can provide. At Weatherhead School of Management, our international students hail from over 25 countries, bringing with them an enriching variety of perspectives, divergent thinking on global issues, and cross-cultural awareness of market dynamics. Weatherhead School is ready to help you find your ideal candidate among our domestic and international students. We appreciate the concerns employers have about hiring international students in particular, and we provide support services to make the process easier.

Work Authorizations Made Easy

We work closely with International Student Services at Case Western Reserve University to proactively advise our international students on questions regarding immigration, work authorization and employment. We take care of most authorization details so students and employers benefit from a seamless process.

Employment While in School Through Curricular Practical Training (CPT)

Upon completing two full semesters at Weatherhead School, international students on an F-1 visa are legally allowed to seek full- or part-time internship opportunities as part of their Curricular Practical Training (CPT). The employer is only required to provide an offer letter to the student specifying the detailed terms of employment. It is the student's responsibility to have the CPT authorized by the university, a process that typically takes five business days.

Employment After Graduation Through Optional Practical Training (OPT)

Upon graduation, international students are legally permitted to pursue up to 12 months of full-time employment in their field of study as part of their Optional Practical Training (OPT). Students in STEM-related programs are eligible for up to 36 months of full-time employment as part of the 24-month STEM OPT extension. Students apply for their Employment Authorization Document (EAD) through U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) during the semester before graduation.
