Lavender Graduation

LGBT Events

The Lavender Graduation Ceremony first started at Case Western Reserve University in 2010. This annual event is a partnership between the LGBT Center, Pride Alumni Network, and the CWRU Alumni Association aimed at recognizing the experiences and contributions of graduating LGBTQ+ students of the university and its affiliated schools.

The event typically features an address from President Barbara Snyder, remarks from a student speaker, the awarding of certificates to and cording of graduates, and the awarding of the Douglas W. Nock Endowed Scholarship, the Pride Alumni Student Leader Award, the Case Western Reserve University Pride LGBT Ohio Leadership Award, and the Prism Award.

Every year, a student gives remarks on the LGBT experience at CWRU. Below is a video of the remarks 2018 speaker Cameron Childers with introduction by LGBT Center Director Liz Roccoforte.
