Lavender Graduation

LGBT Events

The Lavender Graduation Ceremony first started at Case Western Reserve University in 2010. This annual event is a partnership between the LGBT Center, Pride Alumni Network, and the CWRU Alumni Association aimed at recognizing the experiences and contributions of graduating LGBTQ+ students of the university and its affiliated schools. Lavender Graduation is going to be a virtual experience this year due to the changing nature of the Corona Virus. We are asking for applications for the Douglas W. Nock Endowment Scholarship and nominations for the CWRU Pride Outstanding Student Award, QGrad Award and Prism Award. Please fill out the Qualtrics form by April 16, 2020 using the following link where more information on each scholarship and award is provided.

The event features an address from President Barbara Snyder, remarks made by a student speaker, the awarding of certificates to and cording of graduates, and the awarding of the Douglas W. Nock Endowed Scholarship, the Pride Alumni Student Leader Award, the Case Western Reserve University Pride LGBT Ohio Leadership Award, and the Prism Award.

Every year, a student gives remarks on the LGBT experience at CWRU. Below is a video of the remarks 2018 speaker Cameron Childers with introduction by LGBT Center Director Liz Roccoforte.
