This course focuses on key monuments of the three great monotheistic religions. The role of art in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam reveals much about the communities in which they were created and how they were perceived in their eras. Examination of houses of worship, paintings (including catacombs), and sculpture will be integral to class discussion.
