For centuries, many of history’s most accomplished women artists were overlooked despite making extraordinary contributions to the art world. This course explores the lives, works, and lasting influence of artists including Artemisia Gentileschi, Mary Cassatt, Frida Kahlo, Yayoi Kusama, Faith Ringgold, Barbara Kruger, Cindy Sherman, and others. Through their art, we will examine the historical, cultural, and personal forces that shaped their creative visions while gaining a deeper appreciation for the challenges they overcame in a predominantly male art world.
