Recordings & Captioning

Siegal Lifelong Learning is able to provide recordings of some courses and lectures after the fact for those who were registered in advance. Please read the details below to know when recordings are available and how they can be received.

In-Person Courses & Lectures
In-person programs are generally not recorded. When there are extenuating circumstances such as religious holidays that fall during times when CWRU is open, we will arrange for recordings.

Remote Courses & Lectures
These recordings are available upon request by class participants who have to miss a session. Requests MUST be made by filling out this simple Google Form which asks for your name, email address, and the name of the class you missed. The only exception is if the lecturer has specified that a video not be shared.

Siegal Lifelong Learning at Case Western Reserve University is committed to providing an inclusive, accessible learning environment for all adult learners, instructors, and community members. We aim to ensure equal access to all of our remote lectures, courses, and digital programming.

Live Auto-Captioning (Standard Across All Remote Classes)
Default Availability: Automated Live Closed Captioning (AI-generated speech-to-text) is available by default on all Zoom remote lectures, courses, and webinars hosted by Siegal Lifelong Learning.

How to Enable Captions in Zoom: Participants can toggle closed captions on or off at any time during a live session by clicking the "Show Captions" or "Live Transcript" button on the bottom Zoom control toolbar.

Recorded Content & Course Recordings
Access to Recordings: Where instructor permission is granted, select remote course recordings are available upon request for registered participants.

Pre-Recorded Captions: Any posted or on-demand course recordings provided to participants will include synchronized closed captioning.

Instructor Intellectual Property Notice: Recordings are made available for personal educational use only. In accordance with university policy, courses will not be recorded if an instructor opts out, unless a formal disability accommodation requires audio recording for an individual participant.

Participants requiring specialized accessibility accommodations beyond standard live auto-captions will be connected with CWRU Disability Resources to complete the confidential accommodation request process.
