This six-lecture series explores how New York City’s architecture grew from a blend of Native American, Dutch, English, African, Jewish, German, and Chicago influences. From early colonial buildings to modern skyscrapers, the course examines how immigration, commerce, and today’s men and women architects, designing in the New Vernacular style, shaped the city’s rich architectural character.
This course is offered with the generous support of the Association for Continuing Education.
