Join this opportunity to explore the life of Kaplan, and attend a tour at the exhibition Anatoly Kaplan: The Enchanted Tailor — Sholem Aleichem in Soviet Graphic Art.

Centered on Anatoly Kaplan’s celebrated lithograph series inspired by Sholem Aleichem, the course examines how visual art can translate literary and cultural memory into enduring form. Participants will engage with Kaplan’s unique artistic language, shaped by Jewish folk traditions, Yiddish literature, and the historical realities of Soviet life. Explore how Kaplan’s work preserves the textures of a vanished shtetl world while navigating the constraints of political repression and cultural survival. Blending art history, literary interpretation, and cultural reflection, the program invites learners to reflect on themes of resilience, and the power of art to carry memory across time and place.
