“Isaiah 53” may be the most controversial passage between Jews and Christians. Did you ever wonder how Christians got the idea that “Jesus died to atone for our sins?” Many Christians point to “Isaiah 53” (technically Isaiah 52:13-53:12) as the source that the “Suffering Servant” will die to atone for sins. Who is the “Suffering Servant?” Is it Israel or the Messiah or both? Does Jesus fit the criteria for the Suffering Servant? Come with lots of questions.
Reading materials will be provided to students prior to the course.
