Join us for a journey across extraordinary Israeli archaeological discoveries. At H. orbat Hyrcania, new excavations reveal a fortress founded by the Hasmoneans, transformed by Herod into a desert palace, later reborn as the Christian monastery of Kastellion under Sabas. Across the southern Shephelah, H. orvat Beit Loya preserves a history spanning the First and Second Temple periods, Byzantine, and Islamic eras. Nearby, a monumental Hellenistic complex represents a Ptolemaic Idumean cultic center, whose destruction illuminates the conflicts preceding Hasmonean power. Together, these sites offer a vivid insight into changing communities, beliefs, politics and rituals spanning more than a millennium.
