Join author Melody Chu and media specialist Mara Leventhal, for a three-week workshop on storytelling and recording oral histories. Participants will learn creative storytelling techniques to generate short, dynamic stories inspired by the themes in Chu’s novel Mathey Girls including decades-long friendship, immigration, and the weight of expectations. These stories will be memorialized in short video interviews shareable with friends and family. Instructors will also provide information for recording other stories at home. Previous writing or performing experience is not necessary. Reading of Mathey Girls not required. Trust your voice, your memories and the wealth of your experience. Everyone has a story to share!
