In the 2022 mid-term elections, candidates spent $50 million on ad campaigns dealing with transgender issues. Since then and into the 2024 elections, transgender issues have become even more of a hot topic. Do you want to understand the crux of these issues better? This class will provide a background on transgender issues and take a weekly deep dive into legislation and other issues arising across the country, and particularly in Ohio, including gender affirming care, sports bans, bathroom bans, education bills (like the so-called “Don’t Say Gay” legislation) and book bans, and drag bans.
