Let’s take a trip back to the era of the street-corner singers! “Doo Wop,” as this genre became known, blended rhythm and blues, gospel, and pop music while helping bridge the social and racial divides of the time. We will trace the evolution of this distinctive sound from its roots in tribal Africa to the neighborhoods of major American cities. Along the way, we’ll listen to some of the most influential groups and memorable songs of the era.
