The Israeli artist Yaacov Agam redefined modern art by creating works that shift with light, perspective, and movement, making the viewer an essential participant in the artistic experience. From the famed Fire and Water Fountain in Tel Aviv to exhibitions at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and beyond, Agam became one of the world’s leading pioneers of kinetic and optical art. A recipient of the 2026 Israel Prize, Israel’s highest cultural honor, as well as international distinctions including UNESCO’s Jan Amos Comenius Medal and France’s Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Agam’s visionary work reflects innovation, Jewish creativity, and global artistic influence.
