Explore the poignant and controversial art of Moshe Gershuni, among the most important personalities of the contemporary Israeli art scene. Gershuni’s art is connected to the ideas of the Jewish heretical movements of Sabbateanism and Frankism, two controversial and extreme Jewish movements within the 17th and 18th centuries. Both movements challenged traditional Jewish beliefs and authority, increasing radicalism in Jewish orthodoxy. This lecture supplements the Mishkan Or exhibit ”MEMORY” by Moshe Gershuni.
