New for 2018-2019
The Nutrition Department recently changed the requirements for the Nutritional Biochemistry and Metabolism BA and BS majors, as follows:
NTRN 342 and 342L are no longer required. Two additional NTRN electives have been added, to bring the total to 3. Students may either remain on their current major requirements - as shown on their SIS - or move to the new requirements. If a student elects to change to the new, a formal Advisement Report Correction Form needs to be signed by the student's advisor and submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Studies.
Note - For students who are also in the DPD program, NTRN 342 and 342L are still required.
Program Focus
Nutritional Biochemistry and Metabolism is the study of nutrients and their metabolic functions. This degree program also prepares the students for graduate studies in nutrition or metabolic research or for further training for careers in medicine, dentistry, and other allied health professions.
The BS in Nutritional Biochemistry and Metabolism is easily combined with majors such as Psychology, Sociology, Chemistry, Biology or Communication Sciences. It will also easily accommodate the requirements of a pre-health curriculum.
