Meet author Ain Heath Drew and illustrator Shamar Knight-Justice for a lively conversation about their brand new children's book, Ari J.'s Kinky, Curly Crown. Their charming story follows Ari as she prepares for first grade - the only thing that she thinks is not perfect is her kindergarten hair.
Drew, a writer and educator based in Atlanta, has worked in education for over a decade; she realized the impact and power of children's literature during her time in the classroom. Knight-Justice currently serves as the Founding Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Ethos Classical Charter School in Atlanta; he is an alum of Teach for America and a member of the Profound Gentlemen, an organization which seeks to develop and retain male educators of color. This is their first collaboration.
