Undergraduate Social Justice Scholars Fall 2025

In Fall 2025, SJ Scholars had the opportunity to learn from and be in conversation with Professor Ayesha Bell Hardaway and Keith LaMar. We were honored to have Keith LaMar join Professor Hardaway as a co-facilitator for the Fall 2025 Social Justice Scholars program. Mr. LaMar is an award-winning author, teacher, artist, poet, and activist who has spent the past 31 years fighting a wrongful conviction that currently has him on Ohio's death row. Living in solitary confinement on death row, Mr. LaMar has co-taught classes at Youngstown State University, published his memoir Condemned, recorded albums, and so much more.

Selected participants received one book and any subsequent readings, and received a $250 award for their full participation over the fall semester. Participants agreed to be responsible for reading all of the assigned materials, and must attend five planning and discussion sessions.

Meet our Fall 2025 Social Justice Scholars cohort!
