In fall 2022, we launched our new, advanced accounting curriculum, developed through a collaboration among Case Western Reserve University’s world-renowned accounting faculty, recruiters from top accounting firms, the Accountancy Advisory Board, and accounting alumni—including leaders of national, regional and local accounting firms and corporations.
Prerequisites
Because Weatherhead’s Master of Accountancy degree program builds upon skills and knowledge developed in an undergraduate accountancy program, all admitted candidates must complete certain prerequisite courses in accounting before or during the MAcc program.

STEM vs. Non-STEM electives (6 credit hours)

CPA Exam: Educational Requirements for the State of Ohio
Upon completion of the Weatherhead School’s MAcc degree program, graduates will have satisfied the accounting educational requirements to sit for the CPA examination in the State of Ohio.
If you plan to sit for the CPA exam before you graduate from the MAcc program, you will then need to satisfy the accounting and general business educational requirements. You are welcome to complete the credit hours at Weatherhead by taking graduate or undergraduate courses for which you qualify. Program administrators can provide suggestions and recommendations for fulfilling these hours.
If you wish to sit for the examination in a state other than Ohio, you are encouraged to review the educational requirements before beginning your studies to plan accordingly.
