Each spring, undergraduate music majors at Case Western Reserve University compete in recital format for the opportunity to perform as a soloist with either the CWRU Symphony Orchestra or Symphonic Winds during the following academic year. The Department of Music is proud to offer this competition as a platform for our talented musicians to gain valuable performance experience and receive public recognition for their artistry.
The 2025 Concerto Competition was held in person, with performances evaluated by a panel of faculty members. All applicants demonstrated exceptional professionalism and musicianship.
We are pleased to announce this year’s winners:
-
Zoe Buff, violin (studies with Stephen Sims)
J. Brahms – Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 77 -
Shreya Girish, flute (studies with Heidi Ruby-Kushious)
F. Borne – Fantaisie brillante sur 'Carmen'
Congratulations to both soloists, who will be featured in performances during the 2025/26 concert season.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our collaborative pianists—Alicja Basinska, Anne Wilson, and Grace Betry—for their vital contributions to this event.
