The Department of Music is proud to share that Shreya Girish, a flutist in the Joint Music Program at Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Institute of Music, has been awarded Second Prize in the Woodwind Division of the annual Tuesday Musical Competition, held March 26, 2025.

Shreya, who studies flute with Heidi Ruby-Kushious, received the Ann, Emily & Jeffrey Gleason/Travis & Caitlin Rea Scholarship valued at $1,500 for her outstanding performance. She was one of nearly 130 applicants from 12 institutions across Ohio who competed for a record-breaking $41,050 in scholarship awards, now in the 69th year of the competition.

The competition supports music majors pursuing careers in performance and music education, with prizes awarded in six categories: voice, piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, and musical theatre.

Shreya will advance to the Final Round and Winners Concert on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 2:30 PM at the University of Akron.

Please join us in congratulating Shreya on this exciting achievement!
