Dr. Jessica Gallagher-Steuver is a music educator, choral conductor, performer, and researcher whose work centers on inclusive, community-based music making. She teaches music education at Case Western Reserve University and Baldwin Wallace Conservatory, conducts the CWRU University Chorale, and serves as Artistic Director of Windsong, Cleveland’s Feminist Chorus. She is also the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Queer Choral Studies and a voice instructor at The Music Settlement.
Her research explores queer studies in music education, the social-emotional benefits of choral participation, and vocal health in older adulthood. Before entering higher education, Dr. Gallagher-Steuver taught early childhood, elementary, and middle school choir in Cincinnati, where she developed curriculum for courses in Music Technology and the History of Rock and Roll and directed drama and show choir programs.
She currently lives in Cleveland, Ohio, with her husband and cat, Biscuit.
