With 2023’s best films currently in theaters (or streaming), now is the time to increase your enjoyment and appreciation of the art of cinema. This class begins five weeks before Oscar Night and ends shortly after the presentation of the 2023 Academy Awards. Each session will include Oscar history (with archival clips) as well as discussion of the current nominees. We will learn how the Academy picks the nominees and the winners. We will also learn how to get the most out of watching a movie. During the fifth class, we will make our choices for who will win Oscars in several categories. For week six, we will see who wins bragging rights for predicting the most winners.

This course is offered with the generous support of the Association for Continuing Education.
