In this class, we will explore the art of Torah writing and elements of safrut (scribal arts) from local Soferet S’Tam Rabbi Bec Richman. Rabbi Bec will teach us about her journey to becoming a scribe of sacred Jewish texts, the rules and guidelines of Torah writing, insights into Torah, and her experience as a woman in scribal arts. Participants will also have the opportunity to hold Rabbi Bec’s writing tools, participate in a Torah writing workshop, and witness Rabbi Bec write a portion of the Sefer Torah she is currently scribing for Beth El – The Heights Synagogue.
